For over 50 years, America has been a graceful host to me and many others in the Cuban-exile community.  Of the approximately 3 million Cubans that are exiled around the world, almost 80% of us (2.5 Million people) live in the United States.  America has historically sheltered Cuban exiles from the cruel grasp of the Castro regime.  Still, many in our host country do not know about the atrocities that the Castro brothers and their henchmen continue to perpetrate on Cubans and how they continue to undermine, yes even after the end of the Cold War, America's preeminence as the only true bastion for constitutional freedoms. 

    Why is it important for those in our adopted country to know of Cuba’s struggles for liberty?  The timing is critical, as the big government philosophy that has creeped into America over many years eventually leads to oppression such as the one experienced by most people in Cuba. Yet, America's future now looks brighter than ever.  Lovers of liberty like Glenn Beck and those in the Tea Parties rising across America are leading the battle against big government and socialist ideologies typically promoted by Democrats. Yes, there are good and bad people in all parties and inevitably there are those who mean well, but are simply confused as to which is the best way to help their fellow men.  Once a wrong bill is adopted, it expands government to dangerous levels of control over individual freedoms.  As trustees of the American Constitution, we must align ourselves with those politicians and citizens who support individual liberties and promote personal responsibility, while we all help others to help themselves. Once we have cleared America from those who promote big government at the expense of freedom, America will again be that "shining light upon a hill" that is willing and able to help defeat Castro’s regime and other oppressive governments around the world.
